These Terms of Use are effective from 01/01/2019.

Please read these Terms of Use carefully. We recommend that you print off a copy of these Terms of Use for your records, as well as any future versions of them, as we may update them from time to time.

If for any reason whatsoever you do not agree to these Terms of Use or do not wish to be bound by them, you must not access or use our website.

If for any reason whatsoever, such persons do not agree to these Terms of Use or do not wish to be bound by them, they must not access or use our website, and you must not permit them to do so.

    • By accessing and using our website, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions contained in these Terms of Use, you acknowledge that we will process your information in accordance with our privacy policy, and our use of cookies and similar technologies in accordance with our cookies policy.
    • If you do not agree to the terms set out in these Terms of Use, you must not use our website.

     

    1. Terms of Sale.  

    When you make a payment to us you are entering into a contract to buy a blank number plate from us, the contract will then progress when you send original ID and proof of ownership documents, in line with current legislation. We can only make your and dispatch your plates with a VRM (vehicle registration mark) once we have seen and approved your documentation. 

    When you enter your registration into the relevant section during the ordering process, please ensure you enter this exactly how you would like it printed onto your plates. Our system works on an automatic feed so the production team will print , or construct our 4D / 3D digits and make your registration mark exactly how you have typed. Your documentation is dealt with by the Administration team and therefore cannot be checked against your order by the production team. We are in no way responsible for the spacing you typed in. Please ensure you type your correct registration and correct spacing, paying special attention to legal requirements regarding spacing. 

    Orders will be produced and dispatched within 3 working days of receiving acceptable documents.

    We provide the following delivery services:

    1. Evri standard 3-5 working day delivery – Free with non promotional items.
    2. Hermes express 1-2 working days - £9.99
    3. Northern Ireland , Ireland ,Scotland and Isle Of Man is addition money and not included in our free post which is £6.99.
    4. Evri Next day delivery £3.99 for promotional items.

    Private Plate King Ltd cannot guarantee these time scales and cannot be held responsible for postal delays with any of the carriers we use, or any other failures beyond our control (i.e. issues with access to your property). 

    Private Plate King Ltd post to mainland UK only. Lost items are not deemed lost by couriers until 14 days after posting. Private Plate King Ltd are not liable to refund or cancel the transaction once goods have been made and/or dispatched. 

    We cannot replace or refund any lost or stolen goods in transit without a full investigation. We cannot refund or replace goods until our courier reimburses private Plate King Ltd for the goods.

    Our courier will try to deliver your item twice. If you are not available on both of these occasions, they will return your item to us. Private Plate King will then hold onto your item until you make contact. We will not be held responsible for damage in transit during this process and if you wish for us to resend your plates then you must pay additional postage charges. We will not refund your order if it is returned to us due to your item being personalised and unavailable for resale.  

     Promotional or Sale Items

    Private Plate King Ltd offers various promotional or sale items from time to time. Please note that these items, due to their custom-made nature, are provided without warranty. As bespoke items, they are not eligible for returns or exchanges, except in cases where they are faulty. If a promotional or sale item is found to be faulty, customers may seek a return or exchange in accordance with our standard return policy. This clause does not affect your statutory rights.

    1. Damaged Goods & Quality

    Private Plate King Ltd will replace any goods that are damaged in transit. If you have received damaged goods please send an email to us with photos. All plates are quality checked before leaving our premises. We cannot refund or resend without seeing photographic evidence.

    1. Refund Policy & Cancellations

    Your right to cancel an order starts the moment you place your order and doesn’t end until 14 days from the day you receive your goods. Please note there are some orders where you won’t have the right to cancel and are not covered under the consumer rights act 2015, these include items that are made, bespoke or personalised. Number plates displaying a registration are a bespoke/personalised item, therefore we are unable to offer a refund. 

    1. Here are some things to know about Legal Number Plates

    Only outlets registered on the DVLA number plates R.N.P.S system can legally supply number plates. If you don’t have legal number plates fitted to your vehicle it could fail the MOT and attract the attention of the police.

    Rules for the display of legal number plates are set out in law, briefly these are: –

    All number plates must be displayed in accordance with The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2008.

    * A number plate must be displayed at the front and rear of motor vehicles (with some exceptions).

    * Number Plates must be easy to read and meet the British Standard.

    * Lettering should be black on a white plate at the front and a yellow plate at the rear.

    * The background surface should be reflex-reflecting but the characters must not.

    * There are separate requirements for traditional number plates displayed on vehicles constructed before 1 January 1973.

    * Lettering and spacing must be of a set size. They must conform to one of the groups shown at: - Number plates fitted after 1 September 2001 or Number plates fitted before 1 September 2001.

    Private Plate Ltd reserve the right to make alterations to orders to meet legal standards, for example if illegal fonts, background colours, mis s-pacing or illegal spacing is used on plates with legal registration numbers.

    1. Displaying legal number plates

    The law states that:

    * You must not alter, rearrange or misrepresent the letters or numbers

    * Characters must not be moved from one group to the other (e.g., A242 ABC must not be displayed as A242A BC).

    Offences may result in any or all of the following:

    * A fine of up to £1,000

    * The registration mark may be WITHDRAWN

    * The vehicle may FAIL the MOT test. Full details of the requirements regarding the number plate law are included in The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001. 

    1. Information

    Private Plate King Ltd make your number plates with the information you have entered online when you place your order. You are responsible for any information entered on to the website. Private Plate King Ltd cannot be held responsible for any errors made by you. Private Plate King Ltd are not obliged to replace items if the mistake is yours. You should always enter your plate details correctly and also your address information correctly. If you think you have entered any details incorrectly, please contact Private Plate King Ltd immediately but there is no guarantee that we will be able to change the details in time as the order may already be made and/or dispatched so please ensure you check the details before ordering online.

    1. What we sell

    Private Plate King Ltd manufacturer replacement number plates, we also sell personalised registration numbers. When you purchase with Private Plate King Ltd you are purchasing plastic number plates, you are not purchasing the actual registration number unless you are purchasing a through our cherished transfer scheme. Please ensure when purchasing plates with Private Plate King Ltd that you check you are the owner of that registration number or the documents to order as you cannot just make up a registration number on our website and place on your vehicle.

    1. Complaints

    If you have any complaints about Private Plate King Ltd Products, Website, or level of customer service then please contact Private Plate King Ltd at the following email address: info@privateplateking.com and all complaints will be dealt with in an efficient manner.

    1. Legality

    Private Plate King Ltd manufacturer both road legal number plates and off-road number plates. For road legal number plates, you will need to design them in accordance with the legal guidelines displayed on the Direct Gov and DVLA website. For off-road number plates you can design them as you wish but they are strictly for use on private land and not the UK Roads. It is your responsibility what you design online and Private Plate King Ltd will not be held responsible for you using off-road number plates on UK Roads. Off-road Number plates will not show a VRM, but can show a name, if you are unaware of any of the legal guidelines and information please contact us before purchasing. Private Plate King Ltd will fully co-operate with the authorities on request if the number plates are used for illegal purposes. If you are unsure on any of the legal guidelines or have any question, please contact Private Plate King Ltd before ordering.

    1. Documents required by law

    To ensure a super speedy delivery please follow the instructions below and quote your order reference number in all correspondence.

    1. Please send “one” document from “each” list below – Required by law

    We know this can be a real pain, but we need to comply with the law, therefore we need to see one form of Identification for the person placing the order, and one form of entitlement of the Registration, Original documents not copies need to be seen.

    1. Confirm your identification

    We need to see “one” document to confirm your identification (This is the identification for the person placing the order)

    1. Driving license, whether or not issued in the United Kingdom (UK) (with or without a photo)
    2. A bill issued by your electricity, gas or water supplier, a landline telephone bill, or a council tax bill (current within the last six months) or rates bill (in Northern Ireland only)
    3. A bank or building society statement
    4. A passport, whether or not issued in the UK
      * a national identity card issued by the government of a state or territory other than the UK
    5. A debit or credit card issued by a bank or building society
    6. A police warrant card
       or an armed forces identity card
    1. Confirm your entitlement

    We need to see “one” document to confirm entitlement for the registration number (this document doesn’t need to match the identification of the person placing the order, for instance if you are placing the order for someone else)

    1. Vehicle registration certificate (V5C or V5CNI)
    2. New keeper supplement (V5C/2 or V5C/2NI)
    3. Certificate of entitlement (V750 or V750NI) to the number
    4. Retention document (V778) – not applicable in Northern Ireland
    5. A renewal reminder for vehicle tax or SORN (V11 or V11NI)
    6. Temporary registration certificate (V379 or V379NI)
    7. A number plate authorisation certificate (V948) with an official stamp from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) or Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)
    8. An electronic number plate authorisation certificate (eV948)
    9. A letter of authorisation from a fleet operator (including lease or hire company) quoting the document reference number from the registration certificate
    1. Fraud Checking

    At times it may be necessary for Private Plate King Ltd to contact you to carry out fraud checks to prevent credit card fraud.

    1. Design and Designer

    All designs, colours, and images on the Private Plate King Ltd website are for guidance only. In some cases, on rear plates colours may appear darker due to the yellow reflective. All plates closely resemble the images displayed on our website but due to the limitation’s website some colours, layouts, and images may vary.

    1. Copyright

    For all customised designs requested by our customers, we will not be held responsible if those images / designs infringe copyright. It is the customers responsibility to ensure that they do not infringe copyright. Private Plate King Ltd will not be held responsible for any designs/images requested by the customer which infringe copyright law. If you believe that any of the design/images breach copyright law, you can request a removal of the image/design by sending an email to info@privateplateking.com Please ensure that you submit evidence to support your claim and one of our representatives will respond within 48 hours.

     

    1. Availability of our website
      • We make no representations and provide no warranties that:
        • the website will be made available at any specific time or from any specific geographical location;
        • your access to the website will be continuous or uninterrupted; or
        • the website will be accessible or optimised on all browsers, computers, tablets, phones or viewing platforms.
      • We reserve the right to suspend access to all or part of the website for any reason, including for business or operational reasons, such as improving the appearance or functionality of the website, content updates, periodic maintenance, or to resolve any issues that we become aware of. Wherever we anticipate that we need to suspend access to the website for a considerable period of time, we will try to provide you with prior notice where reasonably practicable.
